To understand why Medi Lift’s spicule-intense Needle Lift products – inspired by the skin renewing capacities microneedling – first we have to understanding why microneedling works so well to begin with.
Microneedling guru Angela Robles of EuroClear SkinCare in Woodland Hills, California explains it thus:
“In the last generation, a major breakthrough in both dermatology and aesthetics is the development of technologies that can rejuvenate the skin with excellent results but don’t require a lot of down time. In fact, over the long run, a series of less extreme restorative techniques can be very effective, particularly where prevention is concerned.”
Most rejuvenating techniques require injuring the skin in some degree. Injury triggers the body’s healing process where collagen synthesizes and rejuvenation occur. That’s why the deepest restoration procedures require medical training and licensing to administer and supervise the whole process.
Microneedling is an effective technology where usually very little downtime is required. A handpiece wielded by the operator holds a grouping of tiny needle tips varying in depth (anywhere from 0.5 mm deep for spa depth to 2.5 to 4 mm for medical depth) that penetrate the epidermis and reach down into the vascularized dermis.
Says Angela, “Microneedling does two things at once. First, it physically creates a channel which imperceptibly injures the skin and subsequently triggers the growth of new collagen tissue. Second, the channel functions as a superhighway to deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin than any topical application can.”
Regulation
Microneedling itself is an confusing case in point because its regulation varies so much from state to state to state, regardless of needle depth. In Angela’s home state of California, for example, it’s completely illegal for an aesthetician to perform it (or any other procedure that breaks or pierces the skin) even in an MD’s office. Consequently in 2018, Angela went out and earned her phlebotomist’s license where she trained and became certified to draw blood. In doing so, Angela is de facto licensed to break the skin and hence certified to perform microdermabrasion as well.
Enter the Medi Lift’s micro-spicule
As a topical, Medi Lift’s Needle Lift collection products don’t absorb down into the dermis. However, thanks to the burrowing capabilities of its micro-spicules, it does create channels to both trigger collagen synthesis and deliver active ingredients (peptides, hyaluronic acid, plant stem cells, and botanicals) deeper into the epidermis than a regular rejuvenating topical product does.
About Medi Lift
Medi Lift is a rejuvenating topical skincare collection inspired by microneedling’s ability to deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin but without the use of needles or equipment. Incorporating advanced technology, the initial two lines include Needle Lift products containing our proprietary micro-spicule-intense Golden Needle Complex–to be configured into three different three-product regimens–and Micro-Moments Special Care Collection, a series of occlusive patches containing self-dissolving micro-tips. Developed and manufactured by Japanese beauty tool specialists and product formulators Ya-Man, Ltd.
“Microneedling does two things at once: First, it physically creates a channel which imperceptibly injures the skin and subsequently triggers the growth of new collagen tissue. Second, the channel functions as a superhighway to deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin than any topical application can.”
